Our winches are supplied with a custom wiring kit for your Defender/Range Rover Classic or Discovery.
THIS INCLUDES  BATTERY CABLES THE CORRECT LENGTH TO FIT TO YOUR STANDARD DEFENDER, DISCOVERY OR RANGE ROVER CLASSIC, A HIGH QUALITY LUCAS-TYPE ISOLATOR SWITCH AND CABLE TIES. IN FACT EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO FIT THE WINCH SYSTEM TO YOUR VEHICLE.  WINCHES ARE ALSO PRE-WIRED AND BENCH RUN PRIOR TO DESPATCH.

The EP9.0 and EPi9.0 have rated line pulls of 9,000 pounds, 4.6 horsepower series-wound motors, and 125 feet of 5/16" diameter aircraft grade wire rope.

All EP Series models feature reliable, sealed switching solenoids, power-in/power-out operation, and include a free-spooling drum, efficient three-stage planetary gearbox, automatic mechanical brake, hand-held remote, roller fairlead and pulley block, forged hook with safety catch, hand saver, battery cables with terminals, in either 12 or 24 volt configurations.

Installation is quick and easy with only two wires to connect. Solenoids on EP units are fitted pre-mounted to the winch motor but can be easily mounted remotely. The EPi units have fully integrated solenoids, also reducing installation time. All models are supplied with the newly-designed rugged rubber handheld remote for operation up to 15 feet away.

The EP series of winches will feature a three-stage planetary gear system. That blue cylindrical object to the right of the gears is the EP's brake.

The brake on the EP9.0 is not contained inside the drum. Rather, the brake is situated outside the drum and opposite the winch's motor. This means that while this unit is braked when not in operation (just like all planetary winches), the winch's drum will not get hot and melt synthetic winch lines. The Superwinch EP9.0 is the first planetary-gear winch to have such a feature and such compatibility with synthetic winch lines. With the EP, you can power in or power out with a synthetic winch line, all without fear that you are going to melt your synthetic winch line.

A glance at the specifications below soon reveals the facts about the new EP12. Relentless pulling power is provided by the massive 5.6HP Series Wound motor. All this torque is handled by the heavy duty 3-stage planetary gearbox which has a 100% load-holding brake for maximum safety.

Reliability assured by the now familiar Superwinch heavy duty sealed contactor pack, which still uses a no compromise all copper, brass and stainless steel construction.

If your main priority is large quantities of relentless pulling power for your Land Rover Defender, the EP12 has it all. Built to commercial standards, the heart of the Husky lies in its immensely strong worm and wheel gearbox. The irreversible principal of this transmission system eliminates the need for both a friction brake and annoyingly unreliable roller clutch to secure the drum under rope tension. This means the Husky can winch out as easily as winching in, without the risk of overheating the friction brake fitted to most other winches. This is an important factor when using synthetic winch ropes as the effect of the generated heat on the rope can have catastrophic consequences
         
     THE HUSKY WORM AND WHEEL GEARS. THE SECRET TO ITS STRENGTH AND LONGEVITY

The worm-box runs in its own oil supply for longevity, as does the spur gear assembly. The Husky is driven by the well-proven super-tough 2.5HP Iskra long series motor.

But the heavy duty design doesn't end with the winch itself. Even the remote controller is cast aluminium with a rubber armoured handle and heavy duty switch.

We can supply the Husky in a wide variety of ways to suit the specific requirements of the user.
We can even build the Husky with Albright solenoids and supply it with a synthetic Plasma 12 rope instead of a wire rope and provide a wiring kit custom-built wiring kit for a specific vehicle. A range of fitting kits are also available, from a basic flatbed mounting plate to a Land Rover Defender Bumper.
